Piotr Alexewicz wins the Chopin Competition
Piotr Alexewicz wins Chopin Competition Huge congratulations to our graduate and teacher, Piotr Alexewicz, who took fifth place in the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition! Piotr Alexewicz also won the audience award at the 19th Chopin Competition and three additional prizes.
Huge congratulations to our graduate and teacher, Piotr Alexewicz, who took fifth place in the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition! We are extremely proud of this achievement. Piotr not only delighted the audience in Warsaw, but also represented Poland wonderfully in the final of the Chopin Competition. Piotr Alexewicz is also the winner of the audience award at the 19th Chopin Competition, receiving 19,961 votes, and the winner of three extra-curricular awards:
- The award for the highest-rated Polish competitor
- The Swiss Classic Maggiore award for the best Polish pianist
- The Lexus award for outstanding stage presence
On 20 October, the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, one of the most important musical events in the world, came to an end. This year's edition attracted 642 outstanding pianists from 54 countries. Eighty-four people from 19 countries qualified for the first stage of the competition, and the artistic level was, as the jury unanimously emphasised, very high.

Eric Lu (United States) – 1st prize
Kevin Chen (Canada) – 2nd prize
Zitong Wang (China) – 3rd prize and the Krystian Zimerman Prize for the best performance of a sonata.
Tianyao Lyu (China) and Shiori Kuwahara (Japan) – 4th prize ex aequo,
Piotr Alexewicz (Poland) and Vincent Ong (Malaysia) – 5th prize ex aequo,
William Yang (United States) – 6th prize.
We would also like to congratulate all participants who, in addition to their excellent piano skills, brought their unique personalities and exceptional emotions to this event.
