Music without borders: Big Band AMKL
On 30 November 2025, at 11:00 a.m., a unique concert by the AMKL Big Band took place in the Concert Hall of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. The concert was part of the MUSIC WITHOUT BORDERS project, an initiative combining music and therapy in activities for socially excluded people.

MUSIC WITHOUT BORDERS is a project initiated and coordinated by Dr Katarzyna Turek – a music therapist and lecturer at our University.
The aim of the project is to create dialogue between artists and communities supporting seniors, people with disabilities, and those with limited access to culture. It is also an opportunity to experience live music and take part in music therapy workshops.
As part of the project, concerts by the AMKL Big Band are held, along with workshops and the development of a therapeutic songbook entitled “Music Without Borders. SONGBOOK – Templates for Filling in Missing Lyrics” by Dr Katarzyna Turek. The publication is enriched with a CD featuring recordings of songs used in music therapy practice.
Project partners include, among others, the Municipal Social Welfare Centre, the Municipal Centre for Social Services, foundations and senior day-care centres, as well as the MeetingDem Centre – an international network supporting people with dementia-related disorders.
Concerts of MUSIC WITHOUT BORDERS are also retransmitted to partner institutions in Poland and abroad,
allowing the music to truly resonate without borders — reaching those who are unable to attend live events.
We would like to thank Dr Bartosz Pernal, the artists of the AMKL Big Band, Dr Katarzyna Turek, and the audience for their presence, shared emotions, and the extraordinary energy of this musical meeting.
