National Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference "Who is an Artist? Faces of Artistic Identity in the Contemporary World"
The National Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference "Who is an Artist? Faces of Artistic Identity in the Contemporary World" took place on December 6-7, 2024.
The idea for the thematic area arose from the need to address the identity dilemmas of young artists. The currently observed disturbing phenomenon of increasing fear of social exposure, identity confusion, and an unstable sense of the meaning of being an artist prompts in-depth scientific reflection. The project included presentations from representatives of the scientific, artistic, and business communities, as well as workshops for young artists.
The thematic scope of the presentations by active participants covered issues such as:
- Identity as a multifaceted issue.
- The artist's image in the light of scientific research.
- The development of artistic identity in the experience of representatives of various fields of art (music, visual art, acting, dance.
- Poczucie sensu bycia artystą w refleksji naukowej.
- The sense of being an artist in scientific reflection.
- Art therapy and artistic identity in the communities of people with disabilities.
The conference program included papers, presentations, and workshops that allowed for an exploration of artistic identity from various perspectives: that of a student, a teacher, a professional artist, and an entrepreneur with an artistic soul.
The conference featured the interactive audiovisual installation Immersion by Random Check Media Ensemble (RCME), a small fragment of the much larger multimedia project Matching Components, premiering as part of the 67th International Festival of Contemporary Music Warsaw Autumn.
Immersion is a type of audiovisual instrument controlled by precise hand gestures. More about RCME and other projects: https://randomcheck.asp.wroc.pl
