On October 11, 2010, the Inauguration Ceremony of the Academic Year at Wrocław's three art schools took place in the Leopoldina Hall of the University of Wrocław: the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music, the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts, and the Wrocław branch of the Ludwik Solski Academy for the Dramatic Arts in Kraków. During the ceremony, an honorary doctorate from the Academy of Music was awarded to the distinguished pianist and educator, Professor Wiktor Mierżanow.
