In 1997, he graduated from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław in the composition class of Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil (with honours). In 1996, he participated in the 2nd International Meetings of Young Composers in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, organised by the Gaudeamus Foundation. In 1997, he took part in experimental and computer music workshops at the University of Ghent. In 2020, he was awarded the title of professor of art in the field of composition by the President of the Republic of Poland.

In addition to his compositional activities, he is also involved in teaching, giving classes in composition, contemporary compositional techniques and computer music at the Academy of Music in Wrocław.

He is a two-time winner of the Tadeusz Baird Young Composers' Competition: in 1995 he received the first prize for String Quartet No. 2 and the second prize for String Quartet No. 1 (1994), and in 1997 the second prize for Music for... for two percussion instruments and two accordions. In addition, in 1997 he won third prize at the National Composers' Competition in Gdańsk for Symphony No. 1, and in 2000 he won first prize at the Pan Accordion International Composers' Competition for Music in Lent for accordion and string quartet.

He has received scholarships from the Minister of Culture and Art, the ZAiKS Authors' Association, the Friends of Warsaw Autumn Foundation, the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung and Deutschlandfunk. He is a member of the Polish Composers' Union and the Polish Electroacoustic Music Association.
