Music therapist, educator, academic teacher. He graduated from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław (AMKL) with a degree in music education from the Department of Theory and Pedagogy (1984-1989) and from the Department of Composition, Conducting, Music Theory and Music Therapy with a specialisation in music therapy (1989-1993). During his studies, he was a scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and Art. He holds a PhD in physical culture in the field of physical rehabilitation (the degree was awarded by a resolution of the Faculty of Physical Rehabilitation of the Józef Piłsudski Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw) and a postdoctoral degree in the artistic discipline of musical arts (degree awarded by resolution of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting, Music Theory and Music Therapy of the Academy of Music in Warsaw). Professor at the Academy of Music in Wrocław, Rector's representative for persons with disabilities.

The scientific and research interests of Dr. Paweł Cylulko, Prof. AMKL, mainly revolve around the use of music in the education and rehabilitation of people with disabilities, the profession of music therapist, and the tradition and history of music therapy in Wrocław. His achievements include three published monographs, over a hundred scientific papers in collective monographs and scientific journals, and encyclopaedia entries. He is the creator of the term, concept and model of ‘typhlomusicotherapy’, which in 1996 became part of the canon of music therapy in Poland and worldwide.

He prepared the content and edited the document entitled ‘Draft law on the profession of music therapist. Materials for community consultation’ (2011).

In 1996, as the originator and editor-in-chief, he launched the first and only scientific journal in Poland at that time in the field of art therapy, entitled ‘Muzykoterapia Polska’ (Polish Music Therapy). He is also the scientific editor of seventeen collective publications, including such series as ‘Zeszyty Naukowe’ (Scientific Journals), ‘Muzykoterapia Polska’ (Polish Music Therapy), ‘Wrocławska Muzykoterapia’ (Wrocław Music Therapy) and ‘Dźwięk - muzyka - terapia’ (Sound - Music - Therapy). From the very beginning of his career, he has also been actively involved in numerous scientific conferences in Poland and abroad, presenting papers, communications and reports (Boston/USA, Brno/Czech Republic, Saint Petersburg/Russian Federation, Vienna/Austria, Vilnius/Lithuania, Bydgoszcz, Krakow, Łódź, Poznań, Warsaw, Szczecin, Zielona Góra, and others).. In 2003, as the originator, he organised a series of regular scientific conferences on music therapy with a national and international reach under the common title ‘Forum of Music Therapists’, renamed in 2016 to ‘European Forum of Music Therapists’.

In 1996, he co-founded the first Polish Association of Music Therapists, with its headquarters at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, and was its president for the third, fourth and fifth terms (2003-2012). Since 2009, he has been the president of the National Council for Music Therapy. In 2023, Paweł Cylulko's efforts to establish the discipline of music therapy and raise the status of the profession of Polish music therapist were honoured by the Main Board of the Polish Music Therapists Association with the title of Honorary Member.

Paweł Cylulko's teaching activity at the Academy of Music in Łódź has continued uninterrupted since 1993. He has taught and continues to teach courses such as: music therapy ethics, music therapy, hospitations and practical training in typhlomusic therapy, diagnostic methods in music therapy, relaxation techniques, music therapy workshops, research methodology, and bachelor's and master's seminars. He has been a supervisor or reviewer of many theses in the field of music therapy. In 2013, as a scholarship holder, he actively participated in the European Union's LLP - ERASMUS programme, in the project ‘Music for Health’ implemented at The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius (Lithuania), giving lectures and practical classes to students of composition, conducting, music theory and instrumental studies.

Dr. Paweł Cylulko, Prof. AMKL, is a member of the Council of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting, Music Theory and Music Therapy (since 1996) and the Scientific Council of the Publishing House (since 2002). He has been a consultant at the Centre for Artistic Education (since 2020). He is also a laureate of the AMKL Rector's awards, the honorary badge ‘Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej’ (Distinguished Service to Polish Culture), the Bronze Medal for Long Service, the Bronze Cross of Merit and the Gold Cross of Merit.
