PhD Marcin Rupociński

Composer and photographer, born on 22 August 1971 in Wałbrzych. He graduated from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, where he studied composition, initially in the class of Prof. Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil, and then Prof. Stanisław Krupowicz. He studied photography at the Pho-Bos studio (diploma with honours in the studio of Natalia Lach-Lachowicz) and the European Academy of Photography in Warsaw. He participated in computer music workshops in Katowice and Warsaw and was an IRCAM scholarship holder in Helsinki and Paris. In 2013, he obtained a doctorate in musical arts in the field of composition. He is a member of the Polish Society for Electroacoustic Music.
Together with Cezary Duchnowski, he founded the group Morphai in 1997, which aims to realise audiovisual projects. His works have been presented at festivals such as Musica Polonica Nova, Poznań Music Spring, Media Art Biennale WRO, Audio Art, Warsaw Autumn, Beijing Modern and Alkagran. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Laptop Ensemble, whose repertoire consists of electroacoustic music created by the members of the ensemble. He has collaborated with many theatres, including the Rozmaitości Theatre in Warsaw, the National Old Theatre in Krakow and the Drama Laboratory in Warsaw. He currently works as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Graphic Arts and Media Art at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław and as a lecturer at the Department of Composition at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.
In addition to composing music, his interests include artistic activities at the intersection of various media, programming multimedia installations, electroacoustic music and computer-assisted composition.
