Composer and vocalist. Known for her unusual vocal range and her use of it in ways that break stereotypes.

She performs all over the world and has many world premieres to her credit. In addition to dozens of philharmonic halls, opera houses and festivals, she has collaborated as a vocalist and composer with leading musical institutions around the world, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, Staatsoper Hannover, SWR Radio, Deutschlandfunk, Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Teatr Wielki-Operą Narodową, Klangforum Wien, MusikFabrik, Inter-Contemporain, London Sinfonietta, Ictus, Eighth Blackbird, Seattle Chamber Players, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Münchener Kammerorchester, Neue Vocalsolisten, and Remix Ensemble.

She has won several vocal and composition competitions. Her most important awards include the Polityka's Passport (2005), the Fryderyk Award for her monographic album Cascando (2010) and for her vocal recital Apparition (2020), victory at the International Composers' Tribune for her composition Not I (2013), the Polonica Nova Award (2014), Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej (2016), the European Composition Award (2018), the Erste Bank Kompositionspreis (2018), the honorary badge Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej and the Gloria Artis medal.

She is associated with Wrocław, where she lectures at her alma mater. Together with Cezary Duchnowski, she co-founded the duo ElettroVoce.

Her dozen or so phonographic publications include composer albums: Cascando (CD Accord), Not I and Cleopatra’s Songs (KAIROS), Bildbeschreibung (Anaklasis), as well as vocal albums: Poems with interpretations of songs by Copland, Berg and Szymanowski, el Derwid - Plamy na słońcu, Dream Lake with vocal cycles by Witold Lutosławski and Andrzej Czajkowski, and the latest Apparition with songs by Ravel, Barber, Szymanowski, Crumb and Obradors (CD Accord).
