PhD Tomasz Marut

Pianist, Doctor of Musical Arts, Yamaha Artist. He graduated from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław in the piano class of Prof. Paweł Zawadzki, under whose supervision he completed his studies with excellent results. He is the first doctor of arts in the history of the Wrocław Academy of Music whose dissertation (“The Piano Works of Lowell Liebermann”) received an honourable mention. Since 2023, he has been teaching piano at his alma mater.

He is a laureate of many competitions, including the Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Bydgoszcz, the Concours International de Piano Ville de Gagny (France), the J. Zarębski International Music Competition, the International Piano Competition in Augustów, the Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition for Instrumental and Vocal Duets in Wrocław, and the F. Chopin National Piano Competition in Warsaw. He was a semi-finalist in the Concurso Internacional de Piano Compositores de Espana Las Rozas de Madrid (Spain) and the James Mottram International Piano Competition in Manchester (Great Britain). He performed as one of Poland's representatives at the 18th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2021).

For his artistic achievements to date, he has twice received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture

and National Heritage, four times a scholarship from the Rector of the Academy of Music in Wrocław, a scholarship from the Piotr Kler Foundation, and six times a scholarship from the Mayor of Wrocław for artistic creation and education for talented young people from Wrocław.

He regularly performs recitals and concerts accompanied by orchestras in Poland, Germany, France, Austria, Ukraine, Croatia, and the United Arab Emirates. He has collaborated with conductors such as Marek Pijarowski, Mario Venzago, Przemysław Neumann, Roman Rewakowicz, and Maciej Tomasiewicz.

He has performed at international festivals: “Chopin and His Europe” in Warsaw, the Ignacy Jan Paderewski International Festival in Warsaw, Festival Chopin a Paris, Festival Chopin au Jardin, Festival Chopin en Vacances, Festival of Polish Pianists, and the International Festival “Music at J. I. Schnabel”.

He has made numerous recordings for radio and television, including Robert Schumann's Toccata in C major, Op. 7, broadcast on Polish Radio Program 2. His discography includes two albums with works by Fryderyk Chopin, Ferenc Liszt, and Franz Schubert, released by the Ferenc Liszt Society (2021, 2022).
