He began learning the violin at the age of six under Prof. Adam Nowak at the State General Music School in Wrocław, continuing with him until graduating from the State Music High School in 1979. He then studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg under Prof. Wolfgang Marschner, later continuing at the Academy of Music in Poznań with Prof. Jadwiga Kaliszewska, graduating with distinction in 1983. He took part in interpretation masterclasses with Henryk Szeryng, Nathan Milstein, and Sir Yehudi Menuhin.
He is the winner of the National Competition for Young Violinists in Lublin (1978), laureate of the 8th International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznań (1981), the International Louis Spohr Violin Competition in Freiburg (1982), and the International Chamber Music Competition in Colmar (1986).
Since 1986, he has been a member of the “Chopin Trio,” with which he won a special award for the best performance of a work by W.A. Mozart at the International Chamber Music Competition in Colmar. He has performed worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician, including in Europe, Cuba, China, Japan, the USA, Canada, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon.
He also collaborates with the early music ensemble “Collegium Viridimontanum,” performing on period instruments. His recordings include works for Polish and international labels, such as Polskie Nagrania, Wifon, Poljazz-Classik, Emscherland Classik (Germany), Selene (world premiere recording of Józef Wieniawski’s Violin Sonata with pianist Andrzej Tatarski), and EMG Victor (Japan). He has made many archival recordings for Polish Radio, including the first-ever recording of Karol Lipiński’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp minor with the Polish Radio and Television Orchestra in Warsaw under Jerzy Salwarowski.
Alongside his concert career, he is an active pedagogue. He is Professor of Violin and currently Head of the Department of String Instruments, Harp, and Guitar at the Academy of Music in Poznań, and also teaches at the Academy of Music in Wrocław. His students have won numerous prestigious prizes, including Agata Szymczewska (1st Prize at the 13th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition, Poznań 2006). Many of his graduates serve as concertmasters in leading orchestras in Poland and abroad, including the Zielona Góra Philharmonic, the Poznań Philharmonic, NFM Wrocław, and the New York City Ballet. He has given masterclasses at leading institutions worldwide, including in Mexico, China, the USA, Spain, Austria, and Germany.
He has served as a juror in many national and international violin, chamber music, and lutherie competitions. In 2011, he was Vice-Chairman of the Jury at the 14th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznań.
For his achievements, he has received numerous honors, including the Medal for Distinguished Cultural Activity, the Gold Cross of Merit, the Medal of the National Education Commission, the Bronze and Silver “Gloria Artis” Medal for Merit to Culture, and the Gold Medal for Long Service. From 2007 to 2017, he was President of the Henryk Wieniawski Musical Society in Poznań.
