He is a graduate of two faculties of the Wrocław PWSM: Musical Education (1970) and conducting (1976) in the class of prof. Adam Kopyciński. He deepened the conducting studies at the Austrian government scholarship in Hochschule für Musik in Vienna in the class of prof. Carla Österreicher (1982-1983).
From 1969 he has been employed at the Wrocław Opera, first as an assistant to the Choir Manager, from 1976 - a conductor's assistant, and from 1979 - the conductor. He realized 19 opera and ballet premieres in it, including The premiere of the ballet of R. Bukowski "Antigone" (1984) and the Polish premiere of the opera of M. Rimski-Korsakowa "Christmas Eve" (1987). He made four full operas instrumentation, of which one "L’Imporario in Angustie" by D. Cimarosa, was carried out at the request of the Wrocław Opera under his leadership in 1996, later performed by students of the Music Academy in Wrocław at the performances of the vocal department. For the opera, he also interacted fragments of the operetta "Viennese Blood" by J. Strauss, "Cat duo" from the opera "Cyrulik Sevilski" by G. Rossini and religious music to the solemn "Mass", which took place in 2000 at the Wrocław Market Square. He exercised musical leadership in the implementation of the super -production of "Carmina Buran" C. Orff in the folk hall in 2001 and 2003.
From 1972, he was an academic teacher at PWSM in Wrocław - currently the Music Academy Karol Lipiński; After the implementation of the first and 2nd degree qualification cables, he became an associate professor of this university. In 1995 he received the title of professor of music art at the hands of the President of the Republic of Poland. From January 1, 2008, he is a full professor of the Music Academy in Wrocław. As a music manager, he implemented 42 operetta and operetta premieres with students of the Faculty of Vocal and Acting. Especially for the Academy of Music, he also instructed operas: "Suor Angelica" by G. Puccini for a 10-person chamber composition and "Dido and Aeneas" by H. Purcel on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the university.
He has about 60 items in its opera, operetta and ballet repertoire. In 1966–78 he was a member of the Cantores Minores Wratislavienses choir, and in 1978 - 96 a regular harpsichordist of the Wrocław Chamber Orchestra Leopoldiunum. In 1982-84 he cooperated as a harpsichordist with the Polish Chamber Orchestra, and from 1969 he was a member of the Complesso di Musica Antica at PWSM in Wrocław. In the years 1991–2000 he was the artistic director and conductor of the Cantilen chamber male choir. In total, he made about 70 foreign artistic travels, acting as an opera conductor, choir, harpsichord and pianist-co-companist. His artistic achievements have records, cassettes, radio and television broadcasts for Polish and foreign stations, archival recordings for Polish Radio with choirs: Polish Radio and Television and the Cantilena Men's Choir, as well as counterattacks: Dariusz Paradowski and Piotr Łykowski. He also has music recordings for two films, one of which was made to the Car of the Vatican.
He is the author of orchestration for various teams (including the order of the Opera in Madrid) and numerous choral studies for female, male and mixed choirs. He is also the author of the instrumentation of popular music for bands and chamber orchestras as well as Big-Bands.
In 2005, at the Faculty of Musical Education of the Wrocław Academy of Music, the master's thesis entitled Tadeusz Zathey - a portrait of the artist and pedagogue - was defended.
Tadeusz Zathey has the following decorations: the Golden Cross of Merit awarded in 2005 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Wrocław Opera, 2 Silver Crosses of Merit awarded in 1986 and 1996, Medal of National Education (2002), Badge Distinguished for the City of Wrocław and the Wrocław Voivodship, Golden Badge of the Society of Wroclaw Lovers, Distinguished Badge of the Distinguished Culture Culture, and in 2007 The Minister of Culture and National Heritage received the bronze medal Gloria Artis. He is a multiple performer and conductor at the courses of interpretation of oratorio music on the occasion of the annual Wratislavia Cantans festivals.
