dr hab. Anna Rutkowska-Schock, prof. AMKL
The album HER JOURNEY: Flute and Piano Works by Women, recorded by the distinguished pianist and lecturer at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, Dr hab. Anna Rutkowska-Schock, Prof. AMKL, together with flutist and alumna of our Academy Ewa Kowalski, has been awarded a 5-star review in the prestigious Italian magazine MUSICA.
The album has joined the ranks of other outstanding publications that have received the highest critical ratings.
In the latest issue, reviewer Claudio Bolzan emphasizes the extraordinary elegance, sensitivity, and virtuosity of both artists, writing:
"[...] As I mentioned, this has resulted in an itinerary (a ‘journey’, to echo the album’s title) that is very diverse and eclectic, while at the same time offering the two Polish soloists – flutist Ewa Kowalski and pianist Anna Rutkowska-Schock – numerous opportunities to demonstrate their full artistry, elegance, and sensitivity. This is exactly what happened, thanks also to Kowalski’s very soft, rounded, and even tone across all registers, together with Rutkowska-Schock’s effective virtuosity: two soloists perfectly attuned to each other, stylistically versatile, rhythmically incisive and brilliant, yet always attentive to the lyricism of the more meditative passages. This is why Bonis’ Sonata, in particular, was given its full value, enriched by a wide dynamic range and phrasing that was consistently free, flexible, and elegant."
The album, released by Da Vinci Publishing (Japan), was recorded at Trackdown Studios in Sydney and features works for flute and piano by women composers from different eras and cultural backgrounds.
The album is available here: Da Vinci Edition – C00957
Warm congratulations on this remarkable achievement, and best wishes for continued success on the world’s stages!
