Katarzyna Daszkiewicz
Katarzyna Daszkiewicz, a second-year master’s student in music theory under the supervision of Dr. Miłosz Kula, delivered a lecture entitled “I wrap difficult topics with musical tulle – Microtonality in Agata Zemla’s reportage music”, focusing on the works of the Wrocław-based composer.
Another presentation, “The importance of microtonality in Lethargy (2022) for female voice and instrumental ensemble by Alina Dzięcioł”, was given by Agata Dereń, also a second-year master’s student supervised by Dr. Aleksandra Pijarowska, Professor at the Academy.
Additionally, an important contribution representing the Wrocław music community was the lecture by Rafał Barcella, composer and alumnus of the Academy, entitled “Notation, sound and rhythm askew: microtonality in Passacaglia for strings by Rafał Barcella.”

Rafał Barcella took part in the international academic symposium “The Microtonal Village” held within the Village Trip Festival in New York.
We are delighted to share the achievements of an alumnus and two students of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, who participated in the international symposium “The Microtonal Village” as part of the Village Trip Festival in New York. Under the guidance of distinguished professors, these young scholars had the opportunity to present their research, gaining recognition from the international academic community.
Rafał Barcella, alumnus of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, delivered a lecture entitled “Notation, sound and rhythm askew: microtonality in Passacaglia for strings by Rafał Barcella.”
Two master’s students of music theory from the Academy also participated in the symposium.

Michał Bień
Michał Bień, our alumnus and doctoral student under the supervision of Prof. Lidia Grzanka-Urbaniak, DMA, has been admitted to the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists.
Membership in the Academy is reserved for individuals distinguished by outstanding scientific or artistic achievements, who, in an interdisciplinary environment, form advanced research groups and carry out innovative projects. The diversity of perspectives present at every meeting of the Academy embodies the fundamental scientific ideals of the unity of knowledge and the unity of cognition.
In addition, Michał Bień, together with seven other participants, has been selected for the Academia PRO Mentoring Program of Hashtag Ensemble, organized by Hashtag Ensemble and the cultural institution Przestrzeń Muzyki Współczesnej Hashtag Lab.
