On 12 April 2026 at 5.00 pm in Poznań, there will be a special performance of George Frideric Handel’s oratorio *Messiah* – one of the most outstanding works of the Baroque era. The event, organised by the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, will also feature students from the Department of Organ, Harpsichord and Early Music at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.

The oratorio Messiah, which premiered in 1742 in Dublin, has enjoyed unflagging popularity for almost three centuries and is regarded as one of the most important works in the history of music. It was composed during a distinctive period in Handel’s career, when – following years of operatic success in London – the composer turned to the oratorio form, which better suited the changing expectations of the audience.

The performance in Poznań forms part of the Baroque Project 2026 and will provide an opportunity to showcase the work of young artists specialising in early music performance. The participation of students from the Wrocław academy in this project is an expression of active collaboration between academic institutions and a testament to the high standard of education in historical performance practices.
