Academic Chamber Orchestra

The Academic Chamber Orchestra of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław was founded in 1979 on the initiative of violist Jan Michalski, who was the ensemble's first artistic director. The next artistic director of the orchestra was Juliusz Michalski, and since the 1990s, the ensemble has been led by Dr Zbigniew Szufłat, who, like his predecessors, is associated with the Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra in Wrocław.

The ensemble consists of first- and second-year students. The orchestra includes a string quintet, which is expanded as needed with a wind quintet. The orchestra is conducted by Wrocław conductors and foreign conductors visiting the Academy of Music in Wrocław. Recently, the ensemble has presented its performing skills under the baton of such artists as Krijn Koetsveld, Alexander Walker and Vladimir Kiradijev. The orchestra performs several times a year, including as part of the Diploma Concerts series and in cooperation with the Vocal Department in the production of opera performances.
