The Polish Music Library portal brings together the digitized resources of the Polish Music Publishing House: sheet music, an image library, and the PWM Music Encyclopedia online. The materials available on the portal are intended for everyone: art lovers, beginners, and professional musicians, as well as cultural researchers, will find valuable and previously inaccessible materials in the PBM—not only related to music.
The PBM collections available online include approximately 14,000 sheet music items by composers such as Grażyna Bacewicz, Tadeusz Baird, Fryderyk Chopin, Wojciech Kilar, and Witold Lutosławski. The Ikonoteka’s collections, meanwhile, comprise approximately 19,000 items, including photographs and prints depicting the daily lives of Polish and foreign artists and composers, such as Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, Johann Sebastian Bach, Claude Debussy, and many others. The collection also includes iconographic works depicting scenes from daily life from the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century, city panoramas, photographs of monuments, manuscripts, and letters. Meanwhile, the PWM Online Encyclopedia offers approximately 3,500 entries selected from the iconic “PWM Music Encyclopedia,” comprising 12 volumes, 2 supplements, and 5 special volumes. The PBM portal is also set to undergo a series of changes and updates.
The Polish Music Library portal is also set to undergo a number of changes and new developments. As part of the ongoing third digitization project, the PBM portal plans to make available, among other things, articles from *Ruch Muzyczny*, archives of the Polish Composers’ Union, and audio recordings of sheet music, as well as additional encyclopedia entries and sheet music resources. We also plan to expand interactive features, including the creation of a lesson plan generator, music games, and much more.
