12th Student Research Conference: ‘The Ambiguity of Sound’

Since 2014, the conference has served as an important platform for the exchange of ideas among students and young researchers engaged in music theory, musicology and related disciplines. We invite representatives from various fields of science and the arts in which reflection on music and sound plays a significant role to participate.

The theme of this year’s edition is ‘In Musical Symbiosis’, highlighting the diversity of perspectives, creative collaboration and dialogue between different fields of art and science. The programme will include academic papers and two thematic panels: a discussion panel – devoted to collaboration within the music community and the diversity of musical interpretation – and an environmental panel, addressing the challenges associated with environmentally conscious artistic practice.

The conference will be held in a hybrid format: papers will be presented in person at the university’s premises, whilst attendees will also be able to participate via an online broadcast.

Submissions are accepted via the forms available on the event website: https://ambiguity.amkl.edu.pl/. The deadline for abstracts from active participants is 12 April 2026, whilst registration for passive participants remains open until 10 May 2026.

As is tradition, the conference will be accompanied by the post-conference publication *Sound Ambiguity*, as well as artistic events, including an exhibition of works by students of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and a final concert of compositions.

This year’s edition forms part of the Student Sound Forum – an intermedia initiative that brings together the academic, artistic and organisational activities of the student community around the themes of sound and music. The project has been co-funded by the Municipality of Wrocław as part of the Student Activity Fund (FAST) programme, implemented by the Wrocław Academic Centre.
