11th Student Research Conference “The Ambiguity of Sound”

On May 6–7, 2025, the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław hosted the 11th Student Research Conference “The Ambiguity of Sound.”

Since its inception, the conference has been characterized by its interdisciplinary nature, allowing participants to present a wide range of research devoted to sound and musical creativity.
The theme of the 2025 edition — Generational Aspects in Music — focused on the identity of composers and audiences, the evolution of the soundscape across generations, and the changing perception of sound and music throughout history.

The event featured composer concerts showcasing the works of young Wrocław-based composers, performed by student conductors, instrumentalists, and vocalists of the Academy.
A panel discussion entitled Which Way Forward? brought together artists from different generations and artistic backgrounds to explore contemporary dilemmas of musical creativity.

The conference formed part of the project Quo vadis, musica? – Between Mission and Duty in the Context of the Third Millennium, co-funded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund.

Participation was open to students, doctoral candidates, and graduates in music theory, musicology, and related disciplines.

Participation Formats

• Active participation – 25-minute paper presentations (including discussion); participants receive conference materials and a certificate.

• Passive participation – attendance at all sessions, conference materials, and certificate of participation.

Registration

• Active participation: until April 7, 2025 (title and abstract required).

• Passive participation: until April 28, 2025.
  Applications were submitted via the online form available at www.amuz.wroc.pl and sent to msknwd@amkl.edu.pl.

Fees

• Active participation: 60 PLN (waived for AMKL students and doctoral candidates).

• Passive participation: free of charge.
  Payments were to be made by April 16, 2025 via bank transfer.
