Ernst Köhler International Organ and Organology Conference

On February 28, 2025, the Ernst Köhler International Organ and Organology Conference took place at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.

This year’s edition was dedicated to the reconstruction of Michael Engler’s organ in the Minor Basilica of St. Elizabeth in Wrocław and to the Silesian tradition of organ music. Participants had the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural heritage of the region and to discuss perspectives for future organ reconstruction projects. The conference provided an excellent platform for the exchange of ideas and reflections among experts and enthusiasts of organ music.

The conference was held as part of the project “Quo vadis, musica? – Between Mission and Duty in the Context of the Third Millennium,” co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Fund for the Promotion of Culture, a state special-purpose fund.

“Quo vadis, musica? – Between Mission and Duty in the Context of the Third Millennium” is a two-year project (2024–2025) comprising a series of conferences in the field of musical arts, united by the theme of the mission and responsibility of the musician and pedagogue in the contemporary world. The aim of the series is to address these issues with particular emphasis on the creative process and music education in the context of music of the third millennium.
