mYear 2025 – Festival of Musical Imagination
Date:
07 - 09.03.2025From March 7 to 9, 2025, the Festival of Musical Imagination mYear 2025 took place at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.
mYear offers three days of extraordinary experiences focused on exercises that develop musical hearing and test its functioning in various contexts. Worksheets built around a single work, creative sound-based challenges, riddles, concert-based exercises, installations, and multimedia tasks – and, as always, a wealth of surprises. All of this aims to help participants listen to music with passion and hear more deeply.
The festival provides a wonderful opportunity for young musicians to discover the joy of analysis and understanding of “what sounds.” It opens new paths for exploring music and engaging creatively with it. The name mYear (“my ear”) reflects a key idea of the festival – that active listening is both a gateway and a foundation for musical growth.
For many years, the festival has been designed as a platform of ideas to reduce apprehension toward theoretical music subjects. In previous editions, the event was attended by numerous students from secondary music schools across Poland, while teachers – participating as passive attendees – often adopted festival exercises and new methodological concepts in their own classrooms.
The Festival Council is composed of the authors of original tasks and experienced educators and lecturers from music schools and academies, whose passion and motivation serve as didactic signposts. The festival fosters the exchange of ideas, mutual inspiration, and renewed motivation for effective and fulfilling work with music. In the unforgettable atmosphere of mYear, students become ambassadors of their teachers’ creativity and commitment.
