Doctoral dissertation topic: Optimal Use of Drum Set Performance Techniques in the Context of Tuning and Preparation Depending on the Stylistic Requirements of a Musical Work

Supervisor: Dr. Dariusz Kaliszuk, Associate Professor

Start of doctoral studies: 2022
Mid-term evaluation: 2023/24 — positive

“My research focuses on drum set performance techniques across the diverse musical styles in which the instrument is used today. Each style features distinct sonic demands and therefore requires an individualized approach to instrument selection, tuning, preparation, and—consequently—technique. The aim of my work is not only to characterize these relationships, but above all to reveal the artistic and expressive potential that emerges when they are consciously applied.”
