Jakub Kołodziejczyk stoi na tle muru

Currently a first-year Doctoral School student – performance track, percussion (vibraphone).

A jazz vibraphonist, marimbist, classical percussionist, chamber musician, composer, and arranger — actively performing across classical, contemporary, jazz, and popular music genres.

He is the co-founder of the award-winning jazz-classical ensemble Marimbazzi Duo, with which he released the original debut album Unusual Music Box in 2024. In parallel, he also develops his own jazz project, the Jakub Kołodziejczyk Quartet, serving as its leader and composer.

He began his music education in 2007 at the I. J. Paderewski Primary and Secondary School of Music in Kraków in the percussion class of Leon Olejniczak, MA, later continuing under the same teacher at the F. Chopin State Secondary School of Music in Kraków. From the very beginning of his musical training, he actively participated in competitions, winning numerous prizes, including:

  • 2nd Prize, 4th International Competition of Contemporary Music Srebrna Szybka (Kraków, 2010)

  • 3rd Prize, National Auditions of the Centre for Artistic Education (Radom, 2012)

  • 2nd Prize, 6th International Competition of Contemporary Music Srebrna Szybka (Kraków, 2014)

  • 2nd Prize, Drum Fest International Percussion Competition (Opole, 2015)

  • 3rd Prize, Marimba Festiva International Marimba Competition (Germany, 2016)

  • 1st Prize, Drum Fest International Marimba Competition (Opole, 2018)

In 2024, he completed his master’s degree at the Faculty of Jazz and Popular Music (specialization: jazz performance – vibraphone) in the class of Prof. Bernard Maseli at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. In the same year, he also earned his bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Instrumental Studies (specialization: percussion performance) in the class of Prof. Krzysztof Jaguszewski at the same institution.

He is a two-time recipient of the prestigious “Young Poland” Scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2017, 2021), as well as the Ministry’s scholarship for outstanding achievements in the 2016/2017 academic year. He has also been awarded multiple scholarships from the Pro Musica Bona Foundation and Sapere Auso.
