
Marek Dyżewski (1990-1994)
Born in Legnica in 1946. Pianist, publicist and animator of musical life, he graduated from the State Higher School of Music in Wrocław in piano performance in the class of Professor Barbara Hesse-Bukowska (1971).
He also studied art history at the University of Wrocław, the Catholic University of Lublin (1975) and the University of Vienna (1980-1981). He was a scholarship holder of the Vienna Radio (1981-1982), initiator and artistic director of the Wrocław Old Masters Music Days festival (1967-1987), revived the Wrocław Organ and Harpsichord Music Days (1992) and established the academic music festival Gaudeamus (1997).
He is the former artistic director of the Legnica Cantat festival, and has been involved in radio and television journalism for many years. He is the author of audiovisual performances and an internationally respected person for his radio work. He has commented on international music festivals and competitions on radio and television, including the H. Wieniawski violin competition, the F. Chopin piano competition and the G. Fitelberg conducting competition. He gives guest lectures and seminars at all Polish music academies and at several universities. He has also lectured in Germany, Belgium, Austria, Russia, France and Spain. He was employed at the Wrocław music academy from 1971 to 1974 and from 1982 to 1984, and served as its rector from 1990 to 1994 .
