About the competition

From 23 to 28 March 2026, the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław will host the 5th Adam Kopyciński National Competition for Conducting Students.

The competition was established in 2013 on the initiative of Prof. Marek Pijarowski, then Head of the Conducting Department, and remains to this day the only event of its kind in Poland aimed at first- and second-cycle symphonic conducting students, enjoying a well-established and high reputation. Its main aim is to select the most talented young conductors from among the 24 qualified participants.

The Competition Jury comprises distinguished conductors representing all Polish music academies. They will observe the work of the young conducting students with the Academic Chamber Orchestra and the Academic Symphony Orchestra, assessing their skills, conducting technique and artistic personality. The competition will conclude with a gala Winners’ Concert in the Concert Hall of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.

The Student Conducting Competition is one of the most important events at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music, and its name honours the doyen of the Wrocław school of conducting – Adam Kopyciński.

Free tickets for the Winners’ Concert will be available from 20 February at the reception of Building E of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.

We warmly invite you to attend!
