Magdalena Wiącek, M.A.
A graduate of musicology at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and postgraduate studies in information science and library science at the University of Wrocław. Since 1989, she has been employed at the Library of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. Since September 2009, she has served as the Library Director.
She is the author of scholarly articles on music librarianship, entries in the biographical section of the PWM Encyclopedia edited by Elżbieta Dziębowska, entries in the publication Kompozytorzy polscy 1918-2000 edited by Marek Podhajski, and entries in the Wrocław Encyclopedia. She collaborated on the program books for the International Festival "Wratislavia Cantans" in the early 1990s.
She has presented papers at music librarians' conferences organized by music universities and the Music Libraries Section of the Polish Librarians' Association – Polish National Group of the IAML, as well as at academic conferences organized by the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, the University of Wrocław, the Wrocław University of Economics, and the Wrocław Librarians' Corporation.
Since 1997, she has been involved in the activities of the Polish Librarians' Association at the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Librarians' Association (since 2004 as chair of the Audit Committee). From 2009 to 2017, she was a member of the Board of the Music Libraries Section of the Polish Librarians' Association. During the 2017-2022 term, she served as Vice-Chair of the Board of the Music Libraries Section of the Polish Libraries Association (SBP) – Polish National Group of the IAML. She serves as Chair of the Board of the Section for the 2022-2025 term.
She has been awarded the Gold Medal for Long Service from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Medal of the Polish Librarians Association "IN TOKYO D UZNANIA" (In Proof of Recognition). She is also a recipient of the Mayor of Wrocław Award.
