Przekazujemy do rąk czytelników szesnasty tom monografii zatytułowanej Tradycje śląskiej kultury muzycznej, której celem jest dokumentowanie bogactwa i różnorodności kultury muzycznej regionu śląskiego, będących wynikiem nakładania się na siebie różnorodnych źródeł tradycji wywodzących się z Czech, Słowacji, Niemiec, Austrii i z Polski. Tom zawiera 24 artykuły autorstwa międzynarodowego grona badaczy – wybitnych znawców śląskiej kultury muzycznej – pochodzących z wymienionych krajów. Tematycznie różnorodne teksty zgrupowano w siedmiu blokach dotyczących zagadnienia dialogu międzykulturowego, muzyków zawiązanych ze Śląskiem od XVII do XX wieku, życia muzycznego na Śląsku, twórczości śląskich kompozytorów w XX i XXI wieku, w tym kompozytorów środowiska wrocławskiego, oraz instrumentów muzycznych i muzyki ludowej. Żywimy nadzieję, że rozległy zakres omawianych zagadnień oraz rozpoznanie niezbadanych dotąd aspektów kultury Śląska będą stanowić o wartości tej publikacji i pozwolą wzbogacić naszą wiedzę na temat śląskiego regionu.

The sixteenth volume of the monograph entitled Traditions of Silesian Musical Culture is offered to readers with the aim to document the richness and diversity of musical culture in the Silesian region. This diversity stems from the overlapping of various sources of tradition originating from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria and Poland. The volume contains 24 articles by an international group of researchers from these countries, who are outstanding experts on Silesian musical culture. The thematically diverse texts have been grouped into seven sections concerning the issues of intercultural dialogue, musicians connected with Silesia from the 17th to the 20th century, musical life in Silesia, the works of Silesian composers – including Wrocław-based artists – in the 20th and 21st centuries, musical instruments and folk music. We hope that the wide range of issues under discussion and the identification of hitherto unexplored aspects of Silesian culture will contribute to the value of this publication and help to enrich our knowledge of the Silesian region.
